This, That and Some Other Stuff…

It has been a little bit since my last post, so I thought I’d fill the gap with a small batch of miscellaneous updates…

My article on Medieval War Games is almost done, a couple of misplaced files have been recovered, so I should have this one done by the end of the week.

Randy finished painting samples of the the new Early War Germans late last week. He mailed them out on Friday, so I should have them in hand today or tomorrow. I’ll shoot some photos as soon as I have these in hand. Look for an official release of the new Resistant Roosters Platoon Packs (team packs too) at Rock-Con later this month.

SPAM levels are increasing, and this is slowing down our email response times (if I crank up the filters too much we start loosing emails – slow response is better than no response).

Look For a new Blasted Planets release at Rock-Con – I have a few different things in mind, we will just have to see what gets molded before the convention.

On the Bloodaxe Miniatures front, I’ve finally finished the last of the molds for the 1914 Russians in Fur Cap. I’ll shoot photos of these figures when shooting photos of the Resistant Roosters WWII Germans. We migth be able to squeeze in one more Bloodaxe Minaitures release before the end of the year. The mold making shop is busy with custom work, but I’ll see if we can finish the Adowa (First Italo–Ethiopian War) molds before the end of December.

Completed a new mold for [Scruby Miniatures] NN-60: N-gauge, Napoleonic French Fusilier, Marching, Slung Musket (looks more like at the carry to me). I started with the original master figure and created a nice, clean new set of pattern figures for use in the new production mold. NN-60 has never looked better!

Alison is a bit backed up in the shop – a hard disk problem caused a few mixups in work orders, so she had to re-do a few orders. I think I have the problem sorted out, so we should be good going forward. Well, that should about do it for today. Look for at least one more post later this week…

Product Shuffle

First, I know, last time I said next up would be part two of the Classic 20mm series. Well, part two isn’t quite ready yet; a few more pictures and a scan or two and I should be done. Look for part two on Friday, or safer yet right after the Labor Day holiday.

We’ve recently shuffled some of our product. Since the Bloodaxe Miniatures brand is primarily billed as being budget priced 15mm miniatures we thought it best to move a couple of our 15mm offerings over to the Bloodaxe Miniatures brand.

The first of the ranges to move was our small range of 15mm livestock. Nothing fancy here, just a cow, a dog, a goat and a pig. The dog and pig are the same as those included in our 15mm Hawaiian army packs. The cow and goat are some of my first attempts at sculpting (late 70’s early 80’s).

The second range to make the move is the 15mm American Civil War. These have more or less remained hidden or perhaps more correctly lost on the HistoriFigs site. These figures are the creation of Chris Munro. They are some of his early work (I don’t have an exact time frame, but I’d estimate early to mid 80’s). I’m working on an artillery piece or two for the range, at which point the range will include most of the basic figures one would need for some ACW war gaming.

I still need to add pictures (livestock & ACW) to the Bloodaxe Miniatures website; look for pictures early to middle of next week.

That about wraps things up for the product shuffle. There have been several more updates to the HistoriFigs website, so be sure to pop over to see what is new and improved (well, at least new).

Moro Rebellion Update

At long last, the Bloodaxe Miniatures Moro have been molded and are now ready!

The Spear packs include ‘extra’ loose shields.

Be sure to visit the Bloodaxe Miniatures website for full product listings.

The last of Bloodaxe April Releases

I knew there would be another few releases for April, and here they are:

  • WWI Russian Mounted Officer
  • WWI German Mounted Officer
  • Soviet Cavalry (w/lance) in Budenka Cap (1919-1941)

I have to admit that the photos for these came out rather badly, so I will need to replace them, but in the meantime here are a couple of shots to give you an idea of what the new figures look like:

Bloodaxe April Releases

In some ways this week has flown by, in others it has been dragging along sloooowly. Perhaps it is just that my allergies are acting up a bit more than usual? Well, anyhow on to the topic for today’s news – a recap of April releases for the Bloodaxe Miniatures line.

We didn’t get as much done as we had hoped for, but still a few new releases. First up are some additions to the Moro Rebellion range. Added this week are:

  • U.S. Infantry Officers
  • U.S. Infantry Utiltiy Man
  • U.S. Infantry, Colt MG with crew of 2

The Moro figures are now ready to mold – the last few repairs/modifications have been completed. Look for these in early May. Additoanlly we have in hand greens for the Philippine Insurgents – these are targeted for a mid May release.

U.S. Infantry Officers

Next up are the first of our Interwar period Infantry figures. New for April are:

  • Soviet Infantry in Budenka Cap (1919-1941)
  • Soviet Infantry Officer in Budenka Cap (1919-1941)
  • Soviet Maxim Gun & Crew in Budenka Cap (1919-1941)

A Cavalryman with lance will be released shortly. I suspect that we will add a few more figures to this set – artillery/utility men have already been requested. These figures can be used for your RCW armies as well as as early war Soviets (good through 1941)…

U.S. Infantry Officers

Lastly we have our three “generic” Engineer figures. These fellows will be good for most any 19th or 20th century setting as they are not in uniform. The thinking was that one never needs very many engineers, so why not make a simple, generic set that can be used for multiple purposes – for color, just include a uniformed soldier on the same stand…

Engineers

We might slip a few more miscellaneous pieces this month, but this list about does it for the Bloodaxe Miniatures line for the month of April.

Check back next week for news about new releases for the Resistant Roosters line and our Spring Cleaning Sale.
