20mm 1812 Russians

Still working through the sorting of 20mm (Napoleonic) masters and such and upon sorting the Russians I remembered that the figures are designed as 1812 Russians and that infantry were sculpted with the large plumes (as for Grenadiers).

Hmm, what to do? Should I just leave as is – meaning  that you will need to snip off the plumes to use figures as Musketeers, Jagers or Marines? OR should I go ahead and make more proper Musketeer models? In the later case I would start with the existing figures and make my modifications to those . The result being separate castings for Grenadiers and Musketeers.

If you have thoughts or preferences, please let me know.

More about the 20mm Napoleonic project in a bit.

20mm Teaser

Working on tomorrow’s posting and fiddling with some ‘new’ castings, a scale and a spreadsheet. The preliminary results are looking very interesting. Imagine if you will; figures to build a French infantry battalion (assumes standard Fire & Charge basing)  for under $20  – even less if you pre-order (details coming soon).

New Project : Old School Napoleonic Rules

A new project, well not really new, as I’ve tried to work on it on and off for a while now…

I’ve been thinking on some new Old School style rules for a Napoleonic war game. I’ve also been thinking about social networking.

Thus was born my new (old) project – Designing an Old School style set of Napoleonic miniatures war game rules. On Twitter. One Tweet at a time.

Not only will I be documenting the design via Twitter, I’ll be doing almost tall the writing on my Kindle Fire – that makes this a New School / Old School project…

To start with you can check the most recent Tweets in the Napoleonic Rules – Twitter section in the sidebar to the right and you can always follow @HistoriFigs on Twitter.

And now, we return you to your regularly scheduled…

In the Office

Well, I was planning on posting some pictures today, but my luck with the camera has been absolutely terrible. So, I’ve passed the various figures off to Alison. She has much better luck with photos of late.

Today is shearing day (alpaca and sheep), so we won’t be getting much if anything done in the shop. Alison is booked solid with casting for the remainder of the week, so any new figure pictures won’t happen until next week (unless we can carve out some extra time).

Rather than leaving you picture-less I’ve decided to post this (Polaroid) photo of Jack Scruby. Date and location are unknown…
