Mafrica Map – Sold Out

Over the weekend our last copies, from the 3rd print run, of the Mafrica Map were spoken for. This means that the third print run is now Sold Out!

Unless we see a demand for these maps, it will be some time before the next print run. We have been looking at producing a smaller version of the map at a reduced price. I have some samples in hand, but I’m not really pleased with the result. They are functional, but the color is off. I will have some of these smaller (12″ x 18″) maps at Little Wars, and they will be priced at $5.00 each. Sometime in May, I’ll work up a subscription plan for another print run (of the 18” x 24” map) and if there is a demand, we will print more maps sooner, rather than later.

Look for more news later this week.

Somehow, we Managed a New Release

Things are still a bit too busy here, yet somehow we managed to finish up the molds for a new Bloodaxe Miniatures release.

Our new Bloodaxe Miniatures release is a set of World War II Germans in Field Cap. We have some riflemen, SMG, an HMG and crew as well as a couple of fellows with Panzerfaust. These new figure packs have been listed over on the Bloodaxe Miniatures website. Be sure to pop over and take look. There will be a few more (WWII German) pieces added once we reorganize the figure pack offerings (when we update to our new website).

Otherwise we are still backed up in the shop. I was able to make some good progress the past couple of weeks, so the backup isn’t quite as bad as it was just a few weeks ago. The weekend before last, I stopped and took a few hours to make some tools for the mold making shop. This was time well spent, as I was able to use these new tools this past week and they made my (mold making) job so much easier.

The goal for this week is to clear out a couple of mold making projects and to finish mapping out the casting we need to do before Little Wars. Next week I really want to complete all casting for Little Wars by Tuesday, so I can focus on packing up on Wednesday and Thursday (I really don’t want to work until midnight on Thursday and then be up again by 5am to finish up so I can head out for the convention).

Well, I think that about does it for this time around. I’ll close with a couple of photos taken in the shop – these were take a couple weeks ago, right after we cleared out several large-ish projects – nothing too exciting here, but, well you get a peek at part of the shop…

Still Crazy Busy…

Just when it was looking like we might get caught up…

Things are still a bit on the busy side here at HistoriFigs HQ. Plenty of projects lined up (with mold making projects alone, I’m booked solid though April) and waiting for attention. There are a number of photos sitting on the thumb drive that need editing and posting, so we can show some ‘new’ stuff we have ready, or almost ready to release. The new Bloodaxe Miniatures website is about 50% done, which means that the new Resistant Roosters site will come together much more quickly. Which in turn means I’ll get to making the new HistoriFigs site sooner rather than later. But, nothing new in the way of websites until after Little Wars (8 – 10 April 2011).

Speaking of Little Wars, we will be attending as a dealer, so be sure to drop by and say howdy. If you want to place an order for pick up at Little Wars, please do that soon, as production slots are filling up quickly.

OK, where was I? Umm, lets see; bu, bus, busy. That’s right! Well, enough of that. Lets move on to the extended deadline for the special pricing for the J-22 – 25mm Sudanese Native Advancing with Spear and Shield. We have decided to extend the special pricing through 31 March 2011 to allow a few more of you to take advantage of this special price.

And speaking of prices; look for new prices on 1 April (sadly, this will not be an April Fools joke) 2011. I just about have things sorted out, and the increases may not be as much as we previously thought. If we can nail things down next week, we will post the new prices early, so you can use them to help plan out you projects.

Lets see how much work I can clear out over the weekend and maybe I’ll have some extra time to put together another post with some useful content for next week.

Pre-Order Special on J-22

Now that we have a new production mold for the “lost” 25mm Sudanese Native Advancing with Spear and Shield – Colonial figure we thought it might be helpful if we offered a special price for this figure…

Now, through 15 March 2011 you can order J-22 (in any quantity) for the low price of $0.50 each (plus shipping).

In case you don’t know, or forgot, what this figure looks like here is a picture from our previous posting (the new production piece looks very much the same, the base has been thickened up just a bit, as the original was too thin to cast consistently)

Look for more updates later in the week.

Quick March Update

We’ve been Very busy here at HistoriFigs HQ. As such we’ve been a little too lax in posting news items. In attempt to get caught up I’ll now try and briefly summarize what’s new and what projects are in the works.

First up: with the costs of almost everything on the rise we will soon need to raise prices for most products and services. We will do our best to keep the price increases as small as possible, but when our costs rise by nearly 30%, as in the case of metal, we have little choice but to increase prices. The first price increase impacts postage or shipping costs. Each of our product websites has been updated to reflect our new postage pricing…

Next: We are nearly ready to re-release the Scruby Science Fiction figures. All of the masters have been located and as soon as we have an open slot in the mold pipeline these will receive a new mold. Once the new mold is ready the figures will be listed on both the HistoriFigs and Blasted Planets sites. And now, for a sneak peek at the Scruby 25mm Science Fiction miniatures:

Scruby 25mm Science Fiction - Landing Party

On the Bloodaxe front we have some new 15mm Germans. This batch is wearing field caps rather than helmets. The patterns have been cast and they too are waiting in line for production molds. As soon as these are ready, the figures will be listed on the Bloodaxe Miniatures website. In the meantime, here is a small sampling of the new figures:

15mm WWII Germans in Field Cap

The 25mm Scruby Early Napoleonic figures are also waiting in line for molds. I’ve even added a few more figures to the list, so be sure to check back for more news concerning the release of the 25mm Early Napoleonic figures.

As I sat down at my painting table / workbench the other day I realized just how overloaded the table is with new products. To give you an idea of the figures waiting in the wings here is a short list for your reading pleasure:

N-Gauge Napoleonic Mounted Officers (figures are done, just waiting in line for a production mold)

There are several 54mm projects nearing completion (these are a grab bag mix, basically I grabbed a handful of figures that struck my fancy and have been working on master restorations). The plan is to release 4 to 6 (54mm) figures every month beginning in June.

On the 25mm front we have some long lost Colonials fighting there way back into production (some more cleanup and minor remodeling work remains).

For Blasted Planets, I’ve been working on some Cavalry figures. The first figures can be likened to Cossacks, but riding dino/lizard-like creatures rather than horses. I’m almost to the point where I’ll be able to share some preliminary pictures with you – but not quite, check back in a week or so for WIP pictures.

There is more, but we’ve covered enough for now, so I’ll warp thing sup for this posting and will try hard to get you another update next week…
