End of the month…

August is winding down and it is time for another update. Several projects have been helping to keep things hopping around here. One of the projects we have been referring to as “The Redcoats are coming” has been shelved. I won’t go into details, but other developments have made this project impractical. I suspect that a small portion of the project will be revisited, but in an entirely different form, so for now we will leave this one to rest in peace.

The other project we mentioned recently is code named “Operation Cloudburst” – We are not quite to the point where we can disclose any details, but lets just say that this one is very exciting.

The last project currently keeping us very busy is perhaps our oldest project. Oldest in that it was the first project we planned to launch when we started producing figures. This one has changed a number of times, and has finally settled into its groove. My recent photos have not come out very well, so we will be re-doing those and will unveil the full project in a few days. In the meantime start thinking along the lines of 40mm and the American War of Independence – These are all new figures, especially crafted for HistoriFigs – If you are a fan of AWI gaming (or figure collecting) you will want to get your hands on these new figures!

Bloodaxe Miniatures…

It has been well over a year (could it be two years) since we have released any figures under the Bloodaxe brand. Before our move, I nearly had the first sets for the revised WWI figures ready for release, but these got pushed for the move and simply sat in the basement awaiting an open slot in mold making. Meanwhile the Japanese figures for the Russo-Japanese War jumped ahead, only to have the release delayed (molds have been done for better than a year now)…

Well, I’ll just skip over all the delaying factors and fast-forward to the present. Yesterday I completed the first batch of WWI Russians (Infantry, Dismounted Cavalry, Cavalry, maxim gun, and artillery (gun and crew)) More Russians (in fur cap) will ready in a week or two. These will be followed by the Germans (still a bit of work to do on these).

So, now listed on the Bloodaxe Miniatures website – http://www.bloodaxeminiatures.com are the 15mm releases for WWI Russians and 1904 Japanese. You might also notice that the prices are a wee bit lower (than the WWII figures). We are in the process of reevaluating the pricing for all of the Bloodaxe Miniatures ranges, so be sure to look for new, and lower prices.

I’m inking figures and will post some photos in a day or two (might just be some workbench shots initially).

Should anyone be interested in painting up some samples, please drop is a line and we can discuss the possibilities.

Updates…

Computer problems should now be solved. Was luck in that I could fix the problem – give me a soldering iron and look out…

In other news, a grand experiment in saving a few bucks didn’t payoff as well as I would have like it to. I was trying a different rubber formulation for mold making and well the properties of this formulation don’t lend themselves to the techniques I’ve been using for 25mm and larger figures. The good news is that I didn’t really waste the money spent, as I can use the mold blanks for many of the Bloodaxe 15mm figures I have in the queue.

Speaking of Bloodaxe 15mm figures; We will finally release the 15mm Russo-Japanese War (Japanese) figures this month (early next week) along with the first of the 15mm WWI Russians (can be used for 1904 Russians). The Japanese are done (have been for better than a year now). The first Russians are done (cavalry tonight). The first batch is wearing the summer uniform (Russians in fur cap should release by the end of the month). We will have infantry, cavalry (mounted and dismounted) and artillery.

Next in news is that we placed an order for more metal. Good news is that with a little work I was able to get a very good deal on the metal (some shared buying as well as some pre-selling of casting services). In fact I saved better than $1.50 per pound. Al this means that prices will not be going up any time soon (at least not across the board, there may be a few cases where we simply got it wrong last time, so there may be a few adjustments to our posted prices).

Things have suddenly gotten a bit busy here at HistoriFigs HQ – a couple of special projects are underway. Can’t say much about either of them right now, but if you hear us mention or talk about things like “Operation Cloudburst” or “The Red Coats are Coming” you will know that we are talking about these special projects…

Computer problems

So, we fix all of our internet connectivity issues – new satellite dish and all the fixins…

Now Alison’s system is down – hopefully I can fix it this weekend – but in the meantime some of our systems are down. We are working with my (slow) laptop, but it does not have backups of some files on the main system. Worst case we buy a new system and get things back up by mid-week.
