British Guards

We all know that Jack Scruby’s theme at the Soldier Factory was British Guardsmen. A theme that until now has had little in the way of representation from HistoriFigs.

British Guardsmen

One of the projects that I’ve been putting off is the remolding of the 30mm British Guardsmen, in 1960s uniform (sorry, the only photograph I could find was of guardsmen in current uniform). We had just one small problem; the master and pattern castings for the rifles were AWOL! Well, the originals are still missing – however, I have finally reproduced the needed piece and have them ready to mold.

The patterns are in the mold shop, awaiting a molding date. My plan is to fit these in to the next open slot. Should be by the end of the month, just in time for my birthday in early May.

However, if you really want and need some sooner, let us know and I’m sure my arm can be twisted to mold them sooner.

We have enough variety to make up a dandy little ceremonial review or some such!

Our Guardsmen are dressed in 1960 dress uniform, bearskin, etc.

1570 ... Guardsman, bearskin, standing at attention
1571 ... Guards Officer, standing at attention
1572 ... Guardsman, standing, sloped rifle
1573 ... Guardsman, marching, sloped rifle

Note: some assembly required for 1572 and 1573

Look for more news later in the week.

New Websites

I’m slow with new posts this week, as this is a busy time at work. As such my extra time has been limited. After today, things start to get back to normal, so you can look for more news and figure / war game goodness.

In the meantime, a short update on some of our website projects. The first work you have already seen; the new look for Table Top Talk. Not sure we are done yet, but at least we have managed to freshen thing sup a bit.

The next site to get an update will be the HistoriFigs website. The site is now 11 years old, an looks it! The site will remain a bit on the old school side. Meaning this update won’t incorporate interactive, online ordering. Since we sell single figures for the most part, we are staying with a simple site with figure listings, pictures and ordering information. At initial launch, the pictures will still be a bit light, but we will have a picture gallery scheme in place and the galleries will be populated as we take new photos.

For, now you can get an idea of how the new figure listings will look. This example shows the new look as applied to our N-Gauge Thirty Years War figure listing:

Our first experiment with interactive, online ordering will continue with the Ådalen Miniatures site. This site already has a simple PayPal based cart system. We are experimenting with a better looking system. Something that we can apply to our other websites; Blasted Planets, Bloodaxe Miniatures and Resistant Roosters. We will post more sneak peeks at the new look just as soon as we nail down a few more details and solve a couple of nagging little issues with the functionality. For now, a quick look at a sample product listing (needs more work) from the test site:
