Break Time

Today is a production and packaging day here at HistoriFigs HQ. Alison is busy sorting and bagging WWII miniatures. I’ve been busy with packaging. It is surprising how much work running the paper cutter can be. Or maybe it is just that I don’t have the best setup, my back needs a rest!

So, while I’m taking a short break, I figured I should keep working and post a few minor updates:

  • Human Infantry in Greatcoats (Blasted Planets) are available Now – still need to finish the update for the website.
Really just a few last edits and then uploading the pictures. Shooting for getting this done by the end of the day.
  • Chickasaurus (original recipe) is available Now ($2.25 each) – will be included in website update.
  • Wooly Bool (soft and cuddly) is also ready to ship ($3.00 each) – will be added to site with the update.
  • A few new head options + some new ‘bits’ packs will also be added to the Blasted Planets website with the update.
  • Scruby 20mm Napoleonic – Working on a budget for a remolding of the Entire line. Stay tuned for more info and details. There will some Amazing Pre-order Specials with this one
  • Scruby 30mm ACW remolding has stalled a bit due to some missing masters. Looks like I wil need to re-master a handful of these before we can commit to a re-molding
  • Two small War of 1812 projects in the works – well, maybe three, if I can sort out the New N-gauge figures (sculpting by Jay Miller)
  • New mold for our standard wheel for the 30mm Artillery range – will have Artillery stock on hand at Little Wars
  • Fully restocked on 10mm FIW terrain bits (and yes, I’ll be sure the webpage is restored)
  • I’ve been sculpting a few new pieces – more info after Little Wars
  • Targeting be ready for Little Wars by Monday night – better than my usual 8am Friday 🙂

OK, well I had better get bcd to work – plenty to do. Look for more news next week.

The ECONOMY Line of War Game Miniatures

There has been a bit more talk and pondering on the subject of  the Napoleonic 20mm Economy Line…

To that end I’m posting the text, from the 1968 Scruby catalog concerning this line of figures.

Remember the following text is from the 1968 catalog; availability, metal composition and pricing do not apply to any current HistoriFigs product offerings.

Scruby Economy Line

For the war gamer who has an eye on his pocketbook, we are designing a new line of SCRUBY ECONOMY MINIATURES cast in metal, in both 20 and 30mm scale. These models will be cast in battery—molds and are simplified versions of some of our best and most popular war game figures.

Our object in doing this is to put a good quality, economically priced figure on the market for the war game player who wants mass armies. Most of the SCRUBY ECONOMY MINIATURES will be of the type of soldier that made up the “bulk” of the “Conscript armies” that began during the Napoleonic wars.

For example, in a French Napoleonic Battalion, the buyer could use 10 Grenadiers and 10 Voltigeurs of the regular Scruby Miniatures for his elite companies; and forty Scruby Economy Models for the Fusilier companies, which formed the bulk of the battalion.

The difference between a Regular Scruby Miniature and the ECONOMY MINIATURES-is that the latter have been re—designed so they can be cast quickly and easily in battery molds. They lack such details as bayonets and sword scabbards, and have little or no “undercuts, all of which makes a figure more realistic, but that much more difficult to cast.

Because two to four castings can be cast at one time, costs are reduced also, and these savings can be passed on to you in lower prices of the models.

SCRUBY ECONOMY MINIATURES ARE CAST OF 50/50 TIN—ALLOY METAL, THE SAME AS OUR HIGH-QUALITY STANDARD MODELS. BECAUSE OF THEIR ORIGINAL LOW PRICES, NO VOLUME DISCOUNTS ARE ALLOWED.

20mm Economy Line

Just a quick post today…

One of the figure lines I’ve been wanting to revive is the Napoleonic 20mm Economy Line.
While working on a 20mm Napoleonic project for a customer I came upon some of the masters for figures in the 20mm Napoleonic Economy Line.

These are some figures that I have been looking for for the past several years. As such I was quite happy to find the masters. I haven’t found all the masters yet – but I’m getting close.

Anyhow, to keep this short; after some quick calculations it looks like I could price these 20mm Economy figures between $0.25 and $0.30 each ($24.00 to $28.00 for a bag of 100 foot) – revised estimates 15 April 2012

The above is just a quick workshop picture of a pair of 20mm masters. No cleanup, just as they were found in the box of masters.

Any interest in these? I know that I want some (‘ok’, a lot of them); let us know what you think.

More next week…

BP Human Infantry in Greatcoats

And now for our newest Blasted Planets release…

Human Infantry in Greatcoats.

Human Infantry in Greatcoat

Poses are come in two basic styles: Standing and Advancing at the Crouch.
There are two default headgear types. For the Standing poses, the default headgear is the Gulag Guard (a low fur cap). For the Advancing poses we have the Cossack, or tall fur cap.

Each pose grouping includes an officer and utility figure. The utility figures work well with shoulder fired heavy weapons.

These should all be listed on the Blasted Planets website by the end of the week.

Human Infantry in Greatcoat

Curveball

A catchy tile for an Opening day (for the Milwaukee Brewers) posting. That and I’m switching things up for this post.

Alison has completed ‘a bunch’ of photos for the new Blasted Planets figure releases, but I’ve not finished with the edits yet, so those won’t be covered today. Instead we are sharing a few pictures of some recently re-molded Scruby 30mm American Revolution figures.

30mm Scruby American Revolution

From left to right: 1702 – Infantry in tricorne, full dress, firing, 1704 – Infantry in tricorne, musket at the carry and 1703 – Infantry in tricorne, full dress, advancing

Of these figures, 1704 is a newly re-mastered model. THe Scruby Master as well as the pattern figures are AWOL. As such I had to remaster this figure. Overall I think yiou wil be pleased with this re-mastered piece. I stayed as close to the original as possible – the only truly new look is the top of the base – I’ve added a bit of texture; more to distinguish the re-mater form the original than anything else.

The next two figures were originally part of the 30mm War of 1812 range.

Mohawk Indians

From left to right: 1743 – Indian, throwing tomahawk and 1742 – Mohawk Indian, firing musket

Lastly (for today) we have two more Woodland Indians.

Woodland Indians

From left to right: 1748 – Indian or Frontier Woman and 1745 – Indian, firing bow

OK – one last picture to hold you over until next week…
