20mm Austrian Napoleonic Cavalry

Following our initial re-molding of the 20mm Austrian Infantry of 1809  is our 20mm Austrian Cavalry for both the 1806 and 1812 periods. The new molds were made using the Original masters and patterns. You will notice a new catalog number –> 2126-C Hussar – This is a two piece casting (rider and horse). Since we have the master for this older model, I decided we would go ahead and add to the current offerings. While my personal preference is the one piece casting, we thought that some of you might prefer the two piece version, or perhaps you want both!

Austrian Cavalry (1809 and 1812)
2125C Cuirassier/Dragoon/Chevau Legere
2126C Hussar
2126-2C Hussar (two piece casting)
2056C Uhlan

The molds for these are ready to spin, we even have a small quantity of each casting on hand and ready to ship. Be sure to check the Specials page for ‘limited time‘ special pricing for these cavalry models.

Up next in 20mm will be the first of the French Cavalry. I have decided how the molds will be setup, but here are some of the figures we are looking at for the first round of French Cavalry molds:

French Cavalry
2055C Hussar, 1810 shako, attacking (1 & 2 piece versions)
2056C Polish Lancer, lance erect
2059C Line Chasseur a Cheval, attacking
2061C Cuirassier, attacking
2065C Guard Chasseur a Cheval, attacking (1 & 2 piece versions)

We expect most of the above list we be ready and in production by the middle of next week. After these we will circle back pick up the remaining Austrians.

If anyone is interested in painting up some samples for us please let me know.

Look for more news later in the week.

It Was a Long, Busy Summer

Wow nothing new here since 23rd May!

Well, it was a long and busy summer. Busier than the typical summer for us. What with processing orders, making molds and all the usual farm work I’ve just not taken the time to post.

While all was quiet on the Table Top Talk front, new releases have been piling up in the shop, along with some new 20mm Napoleonic molds. As such, over the next week or three we will be posting several new releases (Blasted Planets, Bloodaxe Miniatures and HistoriFigs). On the remold front, the Scruby 20mm Napoleonic Austrian Cavalry mod work has been completed. French Cavalry is also underway. The rest of the Austrian Infantry is getting close – still a few pieces in need of some re-working.

Many photos to go along with the new releases too. This morning, I dropped a box of figures onto Alison’s photo table. I expect she will get through these by the end of the week. Sadly I realized that I was missing a number of figures in that batch, so there will be a second batch of figures to photograph. I don’t expect we will see these completed until late next week.

Look for more news and photos later in the week…

20mm Napoleonic Project Update

I was able to squeeze in a test mold for the 20mm Napoleonic range. Picking up where i left of a few years back – we have Austrians. 1809 Austrians to be more correct. Working with original masters I’ve created a production mold containing the following figures:

AUSTRIAN
INFANTRY of 1809
2110 Musketeer, on guard
2111 Musketeer, standing, firing
2121 Grenadier, in bearskin, on guard
2112 Artilleryman
2112b Artillery/Utility Man
B6 Musketeer, standing firing (budget line)

Of these 2112b is a newly listed figure – it has been in production on and off. Can be used as an Artilleryman or a Utility man – It should work well for a Standard Bearer.
You will also notice that I’ve included the B6 (budget line) figure. When it comes to figures in the ‘Standing, firing’ pose I really prefer figures without a bayonet – the Budget Line figure is exactly that!

I’ve also been working on pricing for the re-molded 20mm Napoleonic figures. And here, we have some really good news. Prices for the newly molded figures will be a fair bit lower than the currently listed prices for 20mm figures. I’m stooping short of setting a final price, but we can and will offer the above listed figures for $0.50 each in any quantity (at least until we set a final price schedule for the newly molded figures).

By next week, I should have a better idea of final pricing for ‘foot’ figures. It will be another week or two before I can sort out Cavalry pricing.

Next week you can look for our pre-order pricing offer – the prices will be attractive. It will take pre-order commitments to make the full remolding happen. However, our targets will be simple and the total sales quantity needed will not be as high as some might think.

20mm sample figures are heading out tomorrow. I expect we will have something to photograph in 3 weeks give or take (I’ve trie photos of the unpainted castings, and just can’t et satisfactory pictures, so we will wait for painted samples before showing off the crisp, new castings.

Until next time…

20mm 1812 Russians

Still working through the sorting of 20mm (Napoleonic) masters and such and upon sorting the Russians I remembered that the figures are designed as 1812 Russians and that infantry were sculpted with the large plumes (as for Grenadiers).

Hmm, what to do? Should I just leave as is – meaning  that you will need to snip off the plumes to use figures as Musketeers, Jagers or Marines? OR should I go ahead and make more proper Musketeer models? In the later case I would start with the existing figures and make my modifications to those . The result being separate castings for Grenadiers and Musketeers.

If you have thoughts or preferences, please let me know.

More about the 20mm Napoleonic project in a bit.

20mm Teaser

Working on tomorrow’s posting and fiddling with some ‘new’ castings, a scale and a spreadsheet. The preliminary results are looking very interesting. Imagine if you will; figures to build a French infantry battalion (assumes standard Fire & Charge basing)  for under $20  – even less if you pre-order (details coming soon).

More tomorrow…
